We drive past them all the time. We have several within a few miles from where we live.
Deserted farmsteads.
Beautiful in their own way.
But sad and depressing in so many other ways.
What has happened to the family owned farm?
Bigger isn't always better.
Don't get me started . . .

Connie,
I totally get it! It saddens me no end to see these old homesteads abandoned, unloved, decaying, etc.
Makes you wish you had millions just so you could restore them all to their original beauty!
This country is taking a turn for the worse that scares me, something needs to be done to keep jobs in this country, make hard work something to aspire to again!
I'm sad over the direction we're going, but ever hopeful that we can save ourselves..........
I adore old farms and barns and farmers working the fields with tractors and clouds of dust. NO I am not a country girl or a farmer's daughter...I just have an affinity for the way life used to be. Very sad indeed to see them falling apart and left desolated...
I LOVE chippy paint! Beautiful photos, I love their texture and faded charm.
As you say, though, such a shame that they are being left to decay, unlived in and unloved.

Yes it is sad Connie, we do have a lot on "my" little island,too- just falling more and more apart- truly beautiful in their own way, but oh so necklated...

I know, I know...lots of sadness out there. However, I sure love an abandoned house.
