Okay all you gals in Texas. I'm in need of your expertise. We are planning (and it better go farther than just the planning stage!) on driving to Texas in the next couple of weeks. I am in desperate need of where to go, what to do, what to see! I am always reading about the fantabulous items you bring home from flea markets, antique stores and quaint little shops. Tell me where! Tell me when! But most of all, just tell me!
I've heard of Canton's First Monday sale and plan on going there. Tell me, is it as wonderful as it seems to be? Is now the time to go or is it a summer thing (what am I thinking, Texas is summer-like all year 'round!)? Is there anywhere else around Canton that is just to die for?
How about you northern Texans? Where can I spend money on the way down through Texas?
Oh, and I guess I should ask about other things to do and see in Texas. I can't tell my husband that it really is strickly a shopping trip for me. We've been to the stockyards in Dallas (or is it in Houston?) and we are in love with San Antonio.
So, you can see my dilemma. Planning an itinerary with interesting and exciting destinations for him and 'oh honey, look at that store, let's stop for just a minute' places for me.
C'mon Texas gals, help a Nebraska girl out. If I don't get away from snow, ice and cold soon, I will start to scream and never stop! Lesson to self: remember the winter of 2009/10 and start checking out cruises in July!
Waiting with new vignettes in my head, spaces cleared out in my house and money in my hand . . .

Oh, girlfriend...the stockyards are in Fort Worth. Now that we have that settled...yes, Canton is a wonderful experience year round. Go now...do not wait for summer! You will love it! Okay, I am going to think for awhile and give you some advice on places that you HAVE TO visit! What are your dates of visiting and what is your route through Texas?
Canton is a great place to shop, I have a booth there, I set up every month, I will tell you the last 2 month's have been very cold, usually April and May or really good month's to come. There is a shop close to Canton called Laurieanna's Vintage Home, she also has 3 booth's at Canton, her shop and her booth's at Canton are wonderful. I also have a booth at a mall in Athens, which is about 30 min. from Canton, we have some great dealer there, it's worth the drive. Hope to see ya at Canton.

I live in the Texas Panhandle and have travled down to Canton many, many times . . . April is a great time to go as it has not yet begun to heat up much down there. It's worth the trip and I'm sure your husband will find things of interest - - and the people watching! Not knowing your travel route, I can't recommend specific stops, but most places have a fun shop or two to see. Some of our favorite stops are in Vernon, Bowie, Decatur, McKinney and Terrell. I've also heard that the town of Gladewater (60 miles east of Canton) is billed as the Antique Capital of Texas. Have fun!
