Searching for pink . . .

. . . anything that is pink.  Now don't all of you shabby pink froo-froo gals hate me but I don't have alot of pink in my house.  I love it - I just don't have much of it.  I drool over all of your pink blogs!  I wouldn't call myself a girly-girl.  I really don't know what kind of girl I am but lace, ruffles and bows just don't fit my style.  Who am I kidding?  I don't think I even HAVE a style!

And wouldn't you know that A Rosy Note's challenge this Photo Feature Friday was to photograph something pink.  The following photos are my contributions.   The only pinks I have!

I thought that if I used a pink texture, I could fake it.  Kim Klassen's 'dusty rose', 'pink sweet treat' and 'golden' were used to class up some whites (MY color of choice).

This is more me.  A little grungy using a couple of dark layers of 'golden'.

And even darker using Kim's 'empty page'.

Ya know, the more I look at these I'm realizing that I really love these soft pinks.  I think I'll leave them out to inspire me to find more.  Pink lovers beware!  There may just be another member joining your group!

Now, go see what other pink goodness is out there!

I'm going to give up . . .

. . . on Pinterest.  Oh, it looks like a whole lot of photo fun!  I have boards galore ready for all those ideas that I see and want to remember where I saw them.  Ideas to try, ideas to buy, ideas that are too fabulous not to check out again.  Photography tips, freebies and how-tos.  Creative wedding invites, programs and stylings.  Books to read.  Shops to visit.  Vignettes to try.  I got a million of boards I'd love to fill.  But . . .

HOW IN THE HECK DO YOU PIN FROM A SITE?

I think the problem lies in the fact that I can't get Pinterest on my toolbar (what toolbar?)  I'm using Yahoo as my homepage and there is alot of gobbledygook on the top of the page but where do I drag the link to make this app work?

I'm assuming that it supposedly works like this -- I'm perusing my favorite blogs/websites.  Oh, I say, I must remember where this ________ is so I can come back and buy it/comment on it/send it to my daughter/copy put my own spin on it.  I'll just click on Pinterest on my toolbar and it will give me a magic link to transfer it to my whatever board.

Is that how it is suppose to work?  The only repinning I can do is from other members' boards.  And I don't know any other members.  If you have an account, would you care to share so I can visit?

I try to keep up on all of the latest computer trends.  Am I getting too old to be taught the simplest of app tasks?  Was there a secret class on how to Pinterest that I missed while I was saving photos the old fashioned way?  Is there an evil computer genie blocking my way to photo-saving bliss?

Pinterest = Frustration = Giving Up
(and I hate to let something like this get the better of me!  I'm not a quitter!)

Now, please if you can, help this poor blogger/wanna be a pinner out!

More of the same, only different . . .

. . . are my days lately.

We saw peeks of the sun on Easter Sunday but it is still gloomy.  I am waiting not-so-patiently to actually take happy, sunny pictures but dreary is what I am stuck with for now.  But, you know, these darker, lonely looking photos speak to me today.

We have been cleaning out my inlaws' house and it is not always an easy task.  Not only do we find bits and pieces of their early lives together but find items that remind each of us of happier days spent together as a whole family.  If you remember from a long time ago on my blog (here), my main man has 2 sisters that have not made our lives easy and are just plain disagreeable.  And now we find out that they are just plain greedy too.  Enough said.  I hope none of you have gone through the drama that we are going through and that your siblings are loving to each other in a time of mourning.  Walking away from material goods is okay if memories mean more to you than 'stuff'.

Kim's Texture Tuesday requirement this week was to use her 'serendipity' texture on a photo.  I have used it twice in this picture, along with 'paper stained light'.  Of course there is levels tweaking, hue saturation tweaking, eraser tweaking and just general tweaking all over.  Hello, my name is Connie, and I'm a tweaker!

These photos are all of the same abandoned house at different times of the year.  It looks like it was a lovely home at one time and I wonder how it came to be in this condition.

Did the family just walk away one day, leaving the house with only their memories?  Was it a happy home?  Does the family still gather together somewhere and reminisce about events that happened here?  I hope so.

Thanks for letting me vent.  We can't always choose our families but we can learn from them.

Now, go have yourself a happy day!

My red vested . . .

. . . rabbit.  I'm ashamed to tell you that he is just about my only Easter decoration.  And truth be told, he watches over things most of the year.

He always reminds me a little of the white rabbit in Alice In Wonderland.  Really, the only thing they have in common is the pocket watch.  He was my mother's and I love him so.

Linking to A Rosy Note.

Now, go make the most of this glorious holy weekend!

He is Risen!  He is Risen indeed!

Waiting for the Easter Bunny . . .

. . . what do you do while you are waiting?

Well, you do some chillin'.  Lay back and wait patiently.  After all, the Easter Bunny is coming to see ME!

And you test drive your egg gathering bucket.  Can't I just wear the bucket and put the eggs in my pocket?

Finally, the Easter Bunny hops over to me and I like him!  I really, really do!

Especially when he hands out candy!

The mad dash of parents pulling the little ones around and pointing to find the not-so-cleverly hidden eggs is over.  Now comes the part when all the eggs are opened and we see how much candy we can shove in our mouths before being caught!  The goal is the ultimate sugar high!

Wishing you all a blessed Easter!  And the joy of an Easter Bunny visit of your very own.

Now, diets be damned!  Go bite those ears off of that solid chocolate rabbit!

On a *scale* of 1 to 2 . . .

. . . I'm playing with 2 of my 'littlest' scales for Kim's Texture Tuesday.  Do you see a pattern here?  Last week it was one scale, three ways and this week 2 scales, both photoshopped with Kim's 'sweet tart' and 'silence' textures.  If I took a photo of each of the scales in my home for upcoming Texture Tuesdays, my addiction obsession out-of-control madness love of scales could take me into June!

Since most of you have sympathized with my weather woes (and we won't count the ones that bragged about their beautiful weather in a na-na-na-na-na way (lol)) because you are suffering the same 'I want spring to come and I want it RIGHT NOW!' disease, I hesitate to mention that I woke up to snow again today.  Wet, cloudy, cold weather is in the cards for the rest of the week but Sunday - Glorious Easter Sunday - is going to be beautiful!!  Now I have to rummaged through the house looking for the eggs for the Easter egg hunt.

I promise this is the last weather report I give you.  I'd hate for you all to think that I am a whiny type of person but heck, I AM whining about it!

Now, go outside and glory in all that is sunshiny!

This is spring?

The view from my window.  While most of you are showing off your pretty spring flowers and talking about eating outside on your porches, this is my lot in life.  Darkness.  Lack of sun.  Cold, drenching rain.  Prediction of snow.  Mud.  Puddles.  Heavy coats.

But doesn't April showers bring May flowers?

Linking my dark mood to a new weekly photo challenge.  Ignore me and go see some happy photos.

Tricia from A Rosy Note is hosting.

Now, go play in your nice and dry flower beds.

**Edited**  As of 4:00 this afternoon, our chance of rain turned into over 5 inches of snow!  Grrr!  And it is still snowing!  Have a great weekend everyone!

The unusual, the clever, the inspirational . . .

. . . decorations from the spring Bachman House in Minneapolis were again ideas we can all accomplish with a little imagination and the right items.  I know we all have oodles of mismatched drawers, a sink in the living room, lunch buckets just laying around and enough antique grates to fill a wall.  Oh, I wish!

I absolutely love this idea!  I suppose any box could work the same but the different colored drawers with handles make it look even more special!  Notice the eggs displayed in the white bud vases.  Ca-ute!

The 3-D effect makes a statement!

If you have an unused bathroom sink, plant your garden here.  All I could think about was water drainage and the mess it could create!

Loved this idea!  Super duper nails would be required to keep those heavy grates steady.

Old lunch buckets (can you buy those anymore?) used for storage in the crafter's room.

An old window used as a bulletin board.  Do you see the baseball flowers that were shown in the last Flea Market magazine?

Now this I could do since I'm an old pro at wiring buttons onto lamps.

Yup, gonna do this idea too!  Old bobbins for jewelry organization!

For a small bathroom without wallspace, this is a great idea!  An old towel rack hung up high.

Of course, since Bachman's is first and foremost a flower shop, there were beautiful flowers everywhere.  It is amazing how a vase of fresh flowers makes such a statement in a room.  A luxury for sure!

This tree, hung with strips of green fabric, was in the lobby of the store.  It was huge and it was fabulous!

Another successful idea house!  Wouldn't it be fun to be around the table as these talented designers threw out ideas?

Now, go scour your basements for lunch buckets!

A special thank you to the marvelous Lana at Honeysuckle Lane.  I won her recent giveaway and received these spring-time gifts!  I encourage you to visit her blog and shops cuz she has oodles of talent and is so creative!  The things she makes with paper are amazing!  And she is such a sweetie too!

Okay.  Bye.

A threesome . . .

. . . to those of you who clicked to see if my blog has gone trashy, sorry to disappoint.  It is just that I edited a photo three ways and couldn't decide which I liked better.

A couple of layers of  Kim's 'silence' texture.

The same layers in black and white.  Subtle changes.

Kim's 'pink sweet treat' and 'sweet tart'.

All were tweaked.  I love to tweak!  I'm linking these to Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday.

This has been the extent of my computer time this week.  Because we are all interested in when spring arrives in our areas, I am happy to announce that the sun is shining and the wind is not howling and the temps are above 50 in Nebraska!  I hope I'm not jinxing anything by telling you that there is a chance for snowflakes on Friday.  *sigh*

The lovely weather makes me feel ambitious!  I know!  Unusual for me but so true!  I'm on a painting kick and the whole upstairs is being painted.  By me!  Alone!  All by myself!  It is keeping me busy while I fret and worry about little Miss Indecision (the bride) not making any decisions about the wedding so I can start designing and working on anything wedding related.  You see, I am a planner extraordinaire and like to schedule tasks in an OCD kind of way.  But I am trying to be patient, all the while screaming inside.  So when the upstairs rooms are finished and it gets warm enough outside and there are still NO wedding paraphernalia to be started , I'll shlep my paintbrush to the workshop and paint every piece of furniture I own.  Wow!  That was a rant I didn't know was in me!  Blogging can be so cathartic!

Anyway, back to trashy threesomes.  The is nothing dirty going on here!

Now, go enjoy the day!

Minnesota whites . . .

. . . from our trip to the Bachman House.  The rooms were filled with spring flowers and the upstairs rooms were featuring pinks.  But I did manage to find a few of my favorite whites!

Bunnies greeted us at the door.

Simple, huh?

Where can I put a fireplace with a mantel in my old farmhouse that is full of doors and windows.  It is hard enough to find a space big enough for couches, tables and chairs let alone a fireplace but I would so love to tack up pages from an old book somewhere.

And what must it be like to have a space large enough to lean a big mirror.

I simply must find another lampshade skeleton to do this.

This table top was just laid on top of two chairs.  Hard to see, I know, but what a clever idea!

I'll be showing photos of the more unusual ideas from this house later.

And I'm linking to Faded Charm's White Wednesday, of course.

Today it finally felt like spring.  80's by Saturday.  I cannot face wearing shorts quite yet!  Guess I'll have to shave my legs!  lol

Now, go make something beautiful!
