. . . well, what I don't know about a lot of stuff could fill volumns. But as I was commenting on my friend Lynn's blog, Trash to Treasure Art, about something fabulous she had made, AS ALWAYS, she asked me to send her a 'pm'. I had no clue what a 'pm' was and I had to look dumb, AS ALWAYS, and ask her what the heck was a 'pm'? Well, after finding out it was a 'personal message', I got to wondering what else I didn't know about blogging.
So, what I don't know about blogging (again, volumns could be written but I'll just stick to a few items) . . .
I don't know how to follow someone who has a typepad blog.
I don't know if Google Reader is the same as being a follower.
I don't know how to get a previous post to 'stay on top', where subsequent posts follow below.
I don't know how to get the title of each post to appear larger than it does.
I don't know how to reply to a comment other than have it show on the post itself. I always have to go to the commentor's blog and find their email address.
I don't know what alot of the shortcut initals stand for that people use for their family members. Some one should write a post explaining them all!
I don't know how to find out FOR SURE that none of you who comment have to go through that pesky word verification. Boy, I hate that! But I understand why some still use it.
I don't know if your comment shows immediately or if it says it will be visible after approval.
I don't know how to copy the random number generator thingy so that no one thinks I play favorites on giveaways.
I don't know why some bloggers NEVER acknowledge my comments. Aren't they getting them? Am I too insignificant? Did I offend them?
I don't really understand the follower thing. Can you imagine having thousands of followers? Can one person really handle hundreds of comments? (Try me! I'd drop everything and just read comments!)
I don't know how you all get everything done! Please tell me you have housekeepers, cooks, bookkeepers, social secretaries and lawn mowers so I don't feel like I am the laziest, most unmotivated person of them all! I am constantly in awe of your beautiful homes, your selling at markets and of all that you get accomplished!- Edited to add after I checked out my own blog . . . I obviously don't know how to do the bullets. They show up ABOVE my words.
While I'm ranting, I'll force my opinions about giveaways on you . . .
Love 'em!
I think that if you are kind and generous enough to offer something you think someone would like, I'll play along. I know how it feels when there are just a few comments received when you have pondered long and hard about what to give away. Everyone wants to feel the love and I am happy to oblige. Plus, you all are the most amazing crafters and I LOVE your creations!
If you ask me to spread the news, I am more than honored to give you a shout out on my sidebar! Even if YOU win and I don't!
I've found many a blog buddy by following a sidebar picture.
If there are hundreds of comments trying to win, I usually don't try. But that doesn't mean I don't love your blog. I just don't think I'm that lucky!
Please don't dump me as a follower right after a giveaway. Stay and see what else I might have in store.
Please don't have a giveaway and then never announce who won. We want to congratulate the winner (or sneak over to her house and grab the prize)! And worst of all, please don't have a giveaway and then never send it!!! Yup, it's happened to me.
I have rambled on enough! As you can tell, there is ALOT I don't know. If you have the answers, then please share! If you have different opinions than mine, please tell me. I promise to listen and even change my mind. If you have anything you'd like to know about me, out with it! I'll bare it all!
And since it is against blogger law not to have a picture in each and every post, here is my contribution . . .
Now, go be creative!

Wow! I'm glad I'm not the only one with some of these questions. Now we just need all the answers in one place. Thanks for being brave enough to ask!
Great post, Connie! I know we've all felt that way on a lot of the ins and outs of blogging. Personally speaking, I follow all my blogs in my Google Reader. Each time I open the Reader any new posts appear in chronological order of newest to oldest. That way I can see who has posted something new. I always thought that the "Follow Me" sidebar item you and others have was exclusively a Blogger feature...but lately I've seen it appear on Typepad blogs as well. However, just because I put a blog address in my google reader, I don't automatically appear on someone's sidebar as a follower. I would have to sign up on their blog as well in order to show up as one of their followers.
Since I use Typepad to host my blog, I don't know the answers to your questions on blogger's site. Often times I've googled questions and have found answers. Some of your comments made me giggle....
My biggest frustration is not being able to link my typepad blog address to my google reader. I've tried and tried and it won't let me change it. Grrrrr... Hope you get your questions answered! Xo, Sue
I can answer another question! My first comment has been tucked away and the note I received says it will post after your approval. You can change this to "right away" somewhere in your settings if you don't want this to happen!
Wow! I'm glad I'm not the only one with all these questions. Thanks for being brave enough to ask them. Now if we could just get the answers all in one place!
OMG Connie,,,,,,Honestly, I love you more and more! I love Lynn too,,but if she said, "PM" I'd think something needed to happen in the evening!
And don't even get me started on FACEBOOK! Yeah, I'm there,,,who am I talking to, who is reading, who sees it, ackkk!
I can relate to about 70% of what you acknowledged. Heck,,YOU KNOW, I had an "Event" and NO "Linky" whatever....But I figure I'm getting BETTER because when I FIRST started Blogging some of my images were UPSIDE DOWN! HA!
The older I get, the more I feel like my mom used to. I'd be over at her house and she'd ask me to look at the stereo (console) and say, Shell, I can't figure it out,,,,I can't get any music....and I'd simply switch the dial on the console from "Phono" to AM/FM and I was a bonafide GENIUS! At least in her eyes!
Yeah, well, we live,,,and hopefully learn, and well,,,,,let the rest GO! I'll show you MINE if you show me YOURS! I don't know much, but always glad to TRY and help.
Or,,LOL, we can rely on Lynn,,,,,,,,she's the BEST!
Hugs and Love to you my dear friend, I understand the frustration perfectly!

(Stop over I'm having a Giveaway!)
So much of what you don't know...I also don't know! Is there some sort of blogging etiquette blog where we can find the answers?? By the way, I'm having a stamp set giveaway and would love for you to come by and enter!
Hugs,
Robin
You crack me up! I don't even know enough to know what I don't know. Know what I mean? Sending some blog land love your way.
Susanne.
Hi Connie~ I burst out laughing at the prerequisite photo! I can help you with responding to comments...
1)On your dashboard page click "Settings"
2)On the next page, under Settings, click "Comments"
3)Scroll down to "Comment Modification Email" and type your email address in the blank.
Now you will receive emails of each comment and you can reply directly to the email. If a follower hasn't registered an email address, however, you can't email them. For most followers this works great and will save you a lot of time replying. Let me know if it works for you...Linda
LOL Connie, I do know some of them and will send you a PM (you know that one now) tomorrow, I love this post and your honesty.
Hugs GF (thats Girl friend)
Lynn
What a Great Post Connie~ I don't know half of them.... First of all, I did Not know what PM was, Now I Do! How do people handle 1000's of Followers, I would never be off the computer & I feel sometimes like I live here, till I am sore & can't sit anymore.....
Thanks for stopping by today, Bubbie came from when My Daughter was Prego with the first, Memphys is my 1st gran Daughter, she is 7 ~ I did not like Grandma, and My Mom had been Nanny & My Sister is Mimi to Hers, so we started thinking & Mandy (daughter) liked that Rachel Green from Friends called her Grandma "Bubbie" Now for awhile I was called Bubba, when they could not say Bubbie ~ But Bubbie is always said with a Smile & I Love It!
Have a Great Day & Week
Cheryl
SO much of it is still a mystery to me after years. And I wouldn't have known what a pm was either!
I just kind of pick up things as I go along, but I don't pick up quite enough.
And no, I didn't have to do a word verification to leave a comment on your post!
That post really made me smile - I'm right with ya sister!
And there's another one of mine - why do blogs I'm following suddenly, and for no reason, stop showing up on my sidebar? If I go along to my dashboard, there they are - and all my settings show that they should be showing on my sidebar. It's all a mystery to me!
x
Connie,
I don't know almost all of those things and I, too, love giveaways and am willing to help advertise. I totally admire your blog. your funny and thoughtful sides both come through and you take wonderful pictures.
Now if I could just figure out the random number generator. I don't even know where to find it!!!
Sending hugs! You are a super blogger and I mean that. I was so honored to be answered.
Well I follow people who have type pads in my google reader account.
Search Google Reader then set up an account. There is a button called "Add a subscription" towards the top. CLick on it, then copy the http from the blog that you want to follow. This works for any blog if wanted to follow me ie http://somewouldevensayitglows.blogspot.com/ copy this into your add a subscription box.
Let me know if this helps.
Leann
What a great post, I can relate. I've been doing this a year Connie, and I still don't know how to do so many things. I just muddle along and I guess we learn from our mistakes. Loved Shelly's comment about pictures upside down. Girl,I think you're great, funny and refreshing!
xo,
Debra
Connie, I am writing this about 10 minutes after reading your post because I laughed so hard I was crying!!!!!! You are too funny. I found myself nodding in agrrement to everything you said, particularly your comment, "tell me you have housekeepers", etc. How do THEY do it? I try to practice good blogger etiquette but even with my humble number of followers and commenters could never respond to each and every comment, as much as I would like to. I would have to quit my job, or sell my home, or give my child away to accomplish that!
Thanks for the laugh. Now I'm off to make dinner, change the load of laundry, clean the cat litter......
Your picture: PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hahaha! I am loving all these straight forward and hilarius posts on all things "bloggy". I am new to all this and sometimes feel like I'll never get it all down...
Thanks for stopping by my blog and your super sweet comment! I AM going to Junk Bonanza on Friday. How am I gonna see all the good junk while looking for all the friendly faces from my new blogging world??? I'm gonna drive my friends crazy...FOR SURE! Too much fun, can't wait :)
Take care, Laurel@chippingwithcharm
Wonderful post- I have all these questions too. Maybe I'll copy yours and post on my blog to see if I get anymore answers!!
Abbreviations for family is pretty easy once you look at a few- DD dear daughter DS dear son, MIL mother-in-law, FIL father-in-law, SIL sister-in-law, etc. See?
I love giveaways and have NEVER won a single one- now I'll stop by but skip the comment. I don't know how to do a screen shot either to show the generator- but that's what it is.. a screen shot.
Hmm, that's all I know. Everything else is just by shear luck. And no, I have no housekeeper, and my hosue is dirty. OK, not like they will come take my kids dirty, but dog hair, crumbs, etc. YEP, all of the above. xoxo
Funny and honest post--love it! The comments have been funny too! I'm not sure what all you still need to know...I know very little but have stumbled around some so send me a PM if you have unanswered questions that maybe I can help with. (Not about typepad or abbreviations though!)
