Does it make me non-romantic . . .

. . . if I don't like hearts?
(I also don't like butterflies but that is for another post.)

If you are a heart lover, I commend you.  You are a true romantic.

Most of the time, if something has a heart on it, I pass it by (and honestly?  cringe a little).

I think my lack of enthusiasm for hearts stems from my 'country' phase when absolutely everything had a heart on it, a heart carved in it, hearts stamped on it or sported heart cutouts.  Hearts were on my walls, pillows, curtains and clothes.  I'm shuddering just thinking about hearts.

But . . .

Miss Maggie's House was open last weekend and I, in all my holiday wisdom, thought there should be a little nod to Valentine's Day.

So I cut out hearts.

Put them on a burlap banner.

Sewed up little cards.

Punched them out of dictionary pages.

I also stuck romantic flash cards everywhere to remind shoppers that come the 14th, they needed to be romantic themselves.

I've discovered that I'm not the only one who doesn't care for hearts.

Nothing with a heart on it sold!

Is Valentine's Day outdated?  Do you love it or dread it?

I think I can be romantic without the hearts.

Tomorrow I am making my main man homemade vegetable soup.  He tells me he could eat soup everyday but we very seldom have soup.

Because I don't love soup like he does.

But I love him.  So on Valentine's Day we are having soup.

Maybe I'll cut the potatoes into hearts.

Happy Heart Day Everyone!

Connie - I commend YOU!!! I'm so anti-heart I won't buy or make anything with hearts! Un-romantic of me... proll'y. ;-D

LOVE your little cards though! I like the stitched cards!

;-) Happy love day... enjoy your Man AND your soup!

Connie,
Such a cute post! I'd cut those taters into hearts if I were you......!

yep, I know what you're saying about the country phase, but I still DO love me some hearts! Great projects, and I think the potato idea sounds delish!

I'm a heart lover but can also see how it has been OVER DONE! I adore what you did with all those hearts and would have bought them all, ha ha!

But of course, love isn't just for Valentine's Day, and doesn't have to have a heart plastered over it. Me and my sweet fella just kinda give a nod to Valentine's day with no fancy gestures apart from a card and I did put some heart sparkly confetti in his lunch box, he he (and I bought a bracelet for him to give me, I'm romantic like that). We'll be sharing an easy cook meal tonight, just the 2 of us.

Enjoy your hearty soup, I know your sweet Valentine will :o)

xx

I'm not crazy for Valentines Day. I do love hearts though and the sweet treats we indulge in for the holiday. We keep it low key. I do love the projects you shared!

Valentine's Day in general...not a fan. I don't like the idea of deeming a particular DAY for love. It would mean more to me any other day of the year :) Then again, I just never took too kindly being told to do ANYTHING! haha. But..happy Valentine's Day to you!

Hello Connie,

I'm right there with you on the butterflies BUT not with hearts. I LOVE hearts and see hearts in things :) I remember the country phase but I don't decorate with that style heart.

I love your handwork, great ideas! I enjoy Valentine's Day in fact I'm just waiting for my honey to come home so we can have Valentine's Brunch: Dutch Baby Pancakes with sweet, dark cherries and Breakfast Sausage with some lattes.

Happy Valentine's Day!
